Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is eligible to use AS Food Bank?
A: All current UCSB undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to use the AS Food Bank.

Q: How many times can I use the pantry?
A: All students may come into the pantry once a day every day that we are open!

Q: Is there a cost to use the pantry?
A:There is no upfront cost for UCSB students to use the AS Food Bank—everything we offer is free of charge. Our operations are funded through student fees, with $13 per quarter from each student’s Associated Students fee directly supporting the Food Bank. Your contributions help ensure that every Gaucho has access to healthy, nutritious food when they need it.

Q: Does the Food Bank host any programs or events outside of the pantry?
A: Yes! We host monthly pop-up distributions in Isla Vista that are open to everyone in the community, providing free groceries and fresh produce. We also support students through community vending machines and Snack Stations located around campus, where students can grab free snacks and essential items throughout the day.

Q: How can I get involved?
A: You can volunteer with us in the pantry helping with daily operations. If you’d like to donate, we gladly accept monetary contributions and in-kind donations. Every donation goes directly toward supporting UCSB students and fighting food insecurity on campus.
